From story guides to comics crossovers to the music of the games, this handy guide gets you ready to start swinging! From there, enjoy this video that catches up on the game’s story to date. If you’re a fan of Peter Parker, Miles Morales and the entire Marvel’s Spider-Man video game lore, then you’ve likely been waiting for this moment ever since you finished playing the previous games in the franchise. Or perhaps you haven’t gone web-slinging through New York City and now that you have a PS5, you’re ready to pull down the Spidey mask and help protect New York City? No matter where you are in your Spider journey, we’ve got you covered with everything you need to know to enjoy this new video game adventure. Miles still gets his time in the spotlight, however, and has some fantastic moments towards the end of the main campaign, even if some of the more interesting explorations of his Puerto Rican/African American culture are reserved for side missions.
I find it difficult to diagnose my experience—while others have seen wide-ranging performance issues, for me the game runs smoothly, until it suddenly doesn’t. Without warning, in seemingly undemanding scenes and without any preceding slowdown, the game simply gives up, citing only nonsensical display driver issues. So far it’s happened about once every 30 minutes, seeming to be more frequent during story missions. The result is a cinematic but messy experience that not only still bears all the same flaws as its predecessor, but in many areas—particularly the storytelling—feels like a step backwards. The ropiness of this PC port is a sad addition to the issues, resulting in a flawed version of an already flawed sequel.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 welcomes players back to the hustle and bustle of New York City and puts Miles Morales and Peter Parker into the shared spotlight. While the adventure to take down Kraven is mostly linear, offering players a straightforward narrative, there’s still a lot of side content to dive into, like combat challenges, collectibles, quests, and much more. For the first time in the series, you can now switch between both Spider-Men, using their individual skills to explore different parts of the story.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a continuation of our Peter Parker and Miles Morales story featuring iconic foes such as Venom and Kraven, as well as many returning favorites. We introduced all-new abilities and traversal options such as Symbiote Surge and Web Wings, and we’ve also expanded Marvel’s New York with new boroughs and side missions to explore. We’re also delighted to announce that the Fly N’ Fresh Suit Pack, our charity collab with non-profit Gameheads, will be available for PS5 players in October and PC on launch at no additional cost.
PlayStation detailed the game’s system requirements on PC in a trailer and accompanying blog post. In addition to features like ray tracing and ultrawide monitor support, the PC version will also allow integrated use of the PS5’s DualSense controllers. Given that Insomniac’s Spider-Man games are among the few that have truly made use of the PS5’s advanced haptics, you’ll definitely want to use one of those controllers if you’re able to. Originally released on PlayStation 5 in October 2023, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the third game in the series, pairing together the protagonists from both previous entries (Peter Parker and Miles Morales) as they take on Venom and Kraven. The PC version of Spider-Man 2 is out tomorrow for Steam and Epic Games Store, but the radio silence around its system requirements had prompted confusion about what to expect from the port — and what machines could even run it.
With these settings, players can use higher-quality raytracing meshes and use the raytracing object range slider to make adjustments. Movement is handled very similarly to the previous games in the series. Using their web shooters, the protagonists can swing between and above buildings while performing aerial acrobatics. Though the movement system is built upon the foundations from the previous installments, there are some new features as well. One of them is the ability to glide – after launching themselves into the air, Peter and Miles can cover long distances without needing to keep using their webs. mb66 can use aerodynamic tunnels scattered throughout New York to do so.

Marvel’s Spider-man 2 Editions
On PC in 2025, without those advantages and in a disappointingly shaky state, it’s much more difficult to recommend. Where the first game starred Peter Parker, and its spin-off starred Miles, this one has both. Story missions choose for you, but often swap seamlessly between them as the action demands.

Sadly, the excitement around its release has been soured by poor optimizations. This is one of those cases where more time in development could have prevented the majority of the problems it’s facing now. Hosted by Lorraine Cink and Ryan “Agent M” Penagos, swing back into the news.
